I wanted to sharpen my cartoon skills so I put Ug Lug into this old public domain cartoon of Daffy Duck replacing Casper the Caveman. It was challenging as I’m using Cartoon Animator software that primarily uses cartoon puppets and changing sprites. Sprites are basically images of hands and mouth movements. These are used to make cartoon characters speak. The old Looney Tunes cartoons were all hand drawn as were cartoons back in the 40’s.
I used the same sounds from the original, so Mel Blanc’s Daffy Duck is still there. Ug even has the voice of Casper the Caveman. It was a lot of fun and a huge learning experience as I had to break down a lot of this cartoon frame by frame. It’s amazing how many drawings they had to do to make just one short cartoon back then. They didn’t have software like we do today. Even with software like Cartoon Animator 4 it takes a huge amount of time to get one cartoon done.
