Superbook Great Entertainment for Christian Kids

I may be old, but I still love cartoons, and, recently, I discovered a great cartoon series, that I’m halfway through, that I have to recommend for Christian parents. The show is called Superbook and you can watch it on Amazon Prime and for free on Youtube right now. Check out Amazon Prime’s Superbook page. Now, there are at least two versions. The one I think is great came out in 2011 and appears to be still running, according to Wikipedia, with a total of 5 seasons and 66 episodes, so far, at the time of this writing. Right now, Prime has up to season 3 and YouTube has 26 episodes so far.

The first rendition of the show I feel, personally, was a bit more primitive, quality-wise. You can check it out on the above YouTube link, as well, and make up your own mind. It’s basically, early 1980’s anime in a style which just isn’t my thing, but you may love that type of animation, so again, check it out for yourself. It kind of reminds me of Pokemon, I suppose. The second series is not drawn animation, it’s done with computer graphics, but it’s very well done and the backgrounds and settings are awesome to look at.

Dvd sets are available for the second series but they are kind of pricey. The first season and second season DVD sets are available at Amazon. I hope they release a more affordable set at some point because this is a really great series for parents that want to basically give their kids a Sunday School lesson in every fun-filled episode. What I love about it is that it isn’t something that just serves the purpose of putting spiritual content in front of the kids, it’s also very good and fun to watch. You can tell the production values are high quality.

Superbook stories

Kids are going to watch cartoons and whatever anyway, so they might as well watch a series that will familiarize them with Bible stories and teach a good moral lesson every episode. I think it’s very important that parents and grandparents take a larger role in policing what are kids watching. The secular world is going out of their way to brainwash kids into accepting their values and way of thinking. We shouldn’t be surprised that after years and years of absorbing modern propaganda, that is supposed to be simply entertainment, that we end up with adults with completely different values than ourselves.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I can tell you that I, personally, can still remember cartoons I watched as a kid in the 70’s and 80’s. In fact, some childhood memories are fresher in my mind than things that happened yesterday. Things we see as children put a permanent stamp upon our minds. In fact, what we see and hear as a child pretty much makes us who we are as adults. Most cartoons I watched as a kid may, at the worst, have had cartoon violence stripped away, making them less entertaining, but on the flip side, there was very little in the way of attempted social-political brainwashing that has become a huge part of television, movies, and especially comic books these days. Nothing is safe.

Obviously, some cartoons are worse than others. You really need to watch what your kids watch. Watch it together as a family. Superbook is a great show to watch together. As you watch it with your kids, take the time to discuss the Biblical messages that are presented. As Christian parents and grandparents today, we cannot afford to just assume our kids will accept Jesus as their savior automatically, and they need to have the fundamentals of Christianity explained to them from their parents to build a strong moral foundation.

Ok, but what is Superbook 2011 about you ask. It features a boy and a girl who live in the future that, along with the robot Gizmo, end up at traveling back in time to whatever Bible story is relevant to what is happening to them in the present. What they learn during their travels usually helps them to make better decisions about something in their daily life. In one episode, for instance, the little girl in the show had to be brave and stand up for a girl in a wheelchair so her friends would accept her into their club. The Bible story that they visited in this particular show featured Queen Esther.

Episodes feature Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Daniel, Saul, even Adam and Eve, and several others. You can check out the Wikipedia page for a complete episode guide of both series.

Also, I would like to take the time to ask you to consider one of my book series, such as Caveman Comics. It’s fun for all ages, but it is geared more for younger audiences. I put in some jokes that only older folks may get, but the majority of the stories are non-stop crazy cartoon action in graphic novel form. Rest assured though, there aren’t any politically correct messages, just simple fun, reminiscent of old cartoons of yesterday. It’s got parodies and puns that kids will appreciate and characters that have their own unique personalities they’ll love. Caveman Comics is available on Kindle or paperback at Amazon. Please check it out and leave an honest review of what you thought about it. Getting lots of reviews is about the only way a new series can grow and survive, so any review is greatly appreciated.

Caveman Comics features a funny cartoon family named the Lugs. The Lugs are made up of Ug Lug a caveman brought back to the present day, his rocket scientist wife Ann Lug, their son Dug Lug, and their dog Oscar, plus a lot of crazy characters who make up their circle of friends.
