Ug Lug is a sometimes grumpy and often bewildered caveman who lives in our modern-day world thanks to his modern-day rocket scientist wife. Ug tries his best to fit into our modern-day world with hilarious consequences while raising a son to fit into a world he has no idea how said world operates.
Dr. Ann Lug, formerly Dr. Ann Brainsmart, is the total opposite of Ug. She is a literal rocket scientist. She found herself stranded in the distant pre-historic past due to a rocket test that went wrong. She fell in love with caveman Ug Lug during this time, had a son named Dug Lug, and managed to build a time machine to get her family to the present where indoor heat and air is an actual thing.
It’s really hard for Dr. Ann to keep her home in shape between her prehistoric minded son Dug and husband Ug wrecking the place. Even simple things like television and flushing the toilet initially create disasters that nearly destroy their home in their first week in the 21st Century.
Dug Lug, Son of Ug and Dr. Ann, is a very large 8 year old who is very strong for his age and taller than his father already.
Dug has to adapt to a whole other world filled with all kinds of modern-day technological miracles. He may miss his dinosaur pets, but he loves television and having the chance to meet a lot of other kids his age. Unfortunately, the modern-day Lug home doesn’t love Dug.
Oscar the Dog works for Dr. Ann and has been her pet and work partner since before Dr. Ann had ever met Ug Lug.
Oscar is half goofy dog and half highly advanced robot capable of pulling out a number of very expensive gadgets to save the day or just cause Ug Lug more trouble.
Clyde and Claw are two talking cats that happen to be cousins and live on the same street as the Lugs.
Clyde and Claw are the laziest cats in the world and they’ll do anything to avoid work no matter how hard they have to work to do it.
Mr. Boss is a very uptight angry construction site supervisor and also appears as a sergeant in the army in the second Caveman Comics. Mr. Boss hates working with Ug Lug as bad as falling into a field of poison ivy. Ug Lug drives him crazy with his klutzy actions and seeming lack of smarts. Mr. Boss makes his debut in the second book of the Caveman Comics series.
Dr. Madbad is an evil mad scientist who pretends to be a decent hard-working addition to Dr. Brainsmart’s inventor team. He loves to sneak around and sabotage things. His end goal is to simply take over the world.
Dr. Brainsmart is a genius super scientist and father of Dr. Ann Lug. He’s not sure what to think about having Ug Lug as a son-in-law. In fact, he may just hate it.
